Teenland - Northen Pikes

While the Saskatchewan band The Northen Pikes will be best remembered for the song, She Ain't Pretty, Teenland was their first hit and best rock song.  Released in 1987 off the album Big Blue Sky, Teenland was a top 30 hit in Canada and the video got heavy airplay on MuchMusic.

Tragically Hip - Highway Girl (Double Suicide)

The Tragically Hip have a reputation as a great live band and part of that is based on the live variations on classic hits. Sometimes lead singer Gordon Downie will insert a story into the middle of the song or they insert portions of other songs into the break. The original version of Highway Girl is off the first studio album, Tragically Hip. In this version, not only does Gordie tell a story of tragic love, but also include lyrics from a few songs off the (at the time) upcoming Fully Completely album. This song was actually released as a B-Side on a radio promo disc for Twist My Arm in 1991.

The Pursuit of Happiness - I Am An Adult Now

In 1986, The Pursuit of Happiness released one of the most rockin' songs in Canadian music history. Their first single would turn out to be their most recognized song, I am an Adult Now. The single was rerecorded in for the album Love Junk, released in 1989. While TPOH would release 4 other studio albums and a greatest hits package in 2005 called When We Ruled.

A video for I am an Adult Now was first recored in 1986. Another video was released for the rerecorded version in 1990. The biggest difference, other than video budget and the length of Moe Berg' hair, are the guitar solos.
Turn it up and Enjoy!

Loverboy

Loverboy is an underrated Canadian Rock band that had their best success in the early 80s. Loverboy's debut album Loverboy in 1981 had three Rock Classics; Working for the Weekend, The Kid is Hot Tonite and Turn Me Loose. How could you possibly sit still while listening to any of those songs?

You might also consider their 2009 release Greatest Hits...The Real Thing or Live, Loud & Loose: 1982-1986

The great news is that Loverboy still tours. You can check the official Loverboy tour page to get the latest tour dates.
